Budget CONspiracy
What scared me when hearing politicians from Labour and Conservatives trying either to defend the Labour claim they have inherited a £22 billion ‘black hole’ or the Conservative claim that they handed on a steady financial state, nobody, not even leading Liberal Democrats were emphasising that there is a ’black hole’, most serious financial commentators estimate it to be £40 billion, caused by our leaving the EU.
Labour and Conservatives have conspired together to ignore this fact: why do not our Lib Dem spokespeople talk about it? Surely this is an issue on which we can clearly distinguish ourselves from Labour, who under Starmer, are increasingly becoming Conservative-lite.
And by the time you read this, we shall know who is the next leader of the Conservative party. The only thing we do not know is how long that leadership will last.
The dwindling band of Conservative party members had a choice between someone who has said they “had to work hard to push back against the green lobby”(Badenoch) and someone who said “I would go back to the Climate Change Act, I would change it, so that we remove these crazy interim binding legal targets, the carbon budgets. I would certainly fight against Ed Miliband’s mad plan to phase out gas by 2030.” (Jenrick).
