The Environment Agency has declined to prosecute United Utilities, who supply water in the North West, for polluting a river because the incident wouldn't cause any "lasting damage".

The water company has recorded more than 81,000 sewage spillages in English rivers in 2021, the highest number of the ten firms that operate in England.

What kind of country are we living in these days? By the way, United Utilities has posted pre-tax profits of £426.3m for the six months to the end of September 2022, up from the £212.7m it achieved during the same period in 2021. The rise in profits came despite its revenue dipping from £932.3m to £919.3m
